The Northern Road Upgrade

UEA is pleased to announce the award of a thrust boring and horizontal directional drilling package of works by Lend Lease as part of a NSW Government multi-billion dollar major roads upgrade package.

Roads and Maritime Services is upgrading approximately 35 kilometres of The Northern Road between The Old Northern Road, Narellan and Jamison Road, South Penrith. The road will be upgraded from a predominantly undivided two to four lane road to a six to eight lane divided road.

The completed work will deliver new and updated roads to support integrated transport in the region and to capitalise on the economic benefits of developing the Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek. The upgrade will also provide one of the main arterial transport corridors for the South West Priority Growth Area and the Western Sydney Priority Growth Area. The Northern Road upgrade will improve safety, increase road capacity and reduce congestion and travel times in the future.

The awarded package of works consists of nine thrust bores to accommodate gas, water and communications conduits and over 50 HDD crossings for water, power, communications and gas services. Works are expected to commence in November 2017 and be completed progressively through 2018 as sites are developed and made available to crews.

For more information on this project, or on other thrust boring and HDD projects, contact the Trenchless team or call 02 9672 4456.
