UEA Trenchless Division Obtains 5th Edition Accreditation

The UEA Trenchless Division has obtained accreditation for NSW Government Work Health and Safety Management Systems and Auditing Guidelines – 5th Edition.

After successfully completing a detailed auditing process since release of the 4th edition, UEA has satisfied all requirements of the new guidelines, which became effective under Work Health and Safety laws in March 2014.

Fifth Edition standards are a revision of the previous version of the accreditation, designed to meet the construction industry’s demands for safety leadership from pre-construction analysis to client reporting.

In brief, the 5th Edition encompasses these changes:

  • New terminology to include new terms defining Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU), worker and officer
  • The principle of ensuring safety so far as is reasonably practicable
  • Due diligence obligations of officers
  • New duties for designers
  • New requirements for the PCBU who commissions construction  work to provide information to the designer
  • New requirements for PCBUs who commission construction work to provide complete and up to date asbestos registers for contractors undertaking refurbishment and demolition work
  • Revised requirements for safe work method statements
  • Access to asbestos registers for all workers

Obligations under this accreditation are in line with Work Health and Safety legislation.

As a best-practice organisation, UEA Trenchless has held accreditation status since 2008, sustained throughout various updates and has maintained accreditation throughout regular audits, in line with Work Health and Safety legislation.
