UEA Trenchless Reaches the Half Way Point on the Priority Sewerage Program (PSP) Appin Wastewater Scheme

UEA Trenchless has successfully reached the revised half way point of transfer main installation works and is well on the way to having the directional drilling works for the PSP Appin Wastewater Scheme completed on time. Further to the contract works awarded earlier this year UEA has been asked to undertake an additional 2,006 metres of directional drilling due to changes in design requirements as well as several areas of environmental sensitivity.

The Priority Sewerage Program (PSP) identified a need to provide a sewerage treatment scheme for the town of Appin, which is located to the South of Campbelltown. This scheme is known as the “Appin Wastewater Scheme” and involves construction of a new pressure sewerage reticulation and transfer system to service approximately 500 properties.

The bores completed to date include pipe sizes from DN200 PN25 up to DN315 PN16 in bore lengths ranging from 157 metres up to an impressive 703 metres. UEA Trenchless has mobilised a second Vermeer D100 x 120 directional drilling machine and support equipment to help complete the additional works within the desired timeframe and limit any possible delays that may be experienced with connection and commissioning works.

A total of nearly 5,200 metres of directional drilling will be completed by UEA Trenchless on the transfer main between the sewerage pumping station that is currently under construction to the final connection point in Rosemeadow. Works have been completed in a variety of ground conditions including a small section of clay and the vast majority in shale and rock.

All bores have been designed and constructed by UEA to meet strict grade and alignment constraints imposed by both the Roads and Traffic Authority and the Mine Subsidence Board with future mining and development works planned for the Appin area in the coming years.
