Horizontal Directional Drilling for Gravity Sewer Lead in Mains

UEA has recently been awarded and completed their seventh gravity sewer lead in main as part of the overall North Kellyville precinct.

The North Kellyville Precinct is a 707 hectare community of up to 4,500 new homes bounded by Smalls Creek to the west, Cattai Creek to the east and north, and Samantha Riley Drive to the south and is part of the North West Priority Growth Area. Completing works as part of subdivisions along Foxall Road, Heath Road and Barry Road and all lead in mains were connected to Sydney Water’s Cattai Creek carrier.

Horizontal directional drilling was the chosen method for its ability to complete long, continuous installations of HDPE leak free sewer through environmentally significant areas, without the need to clear mature bushland.

Installation distances ranged from 110 metres to 550 metres with constant and varying grades between +1.15% to -27.54%. Works were completed with a number of different drilling rigs based on the available set up room and the required length and grade of each bore.
