UEA Trenchless was contracted by CLM Infrastructure to complete a 70 metre 1050mm diameter steel sleeve insertion as part of a reticulation water main renewal for NetWorks Alliance (NWA) in Bankstown, Sydney. Part of this project was located within school grounds and it was essential all works were completed prior to the students return at the commencement of the school year.
UEA Trenchless has completed a pilot tube microtunneling project for a leading Australian retailer in Aspley, Queensland.
UEA have continued to develop flowable grouts to suit high specification trenchless installations. The latest grout design allows small annular spaces to be filled over long distances on very flat grades.
UEA has completed a 120m investigative bore using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methods at Dakabin, 26km north of Brisbane in Queensland. The horizontal investigative bore was conducted along a proposed pipe alignment passing under the Bruce Highway and adjacent creek.
UEA Trenchless recently completed a 600mm utility tunneling project for Bolte Civil through environmentally sensitive wetlands on the Tomago to Raymond Terrace sewer rising main. The tunneling project consisted of three road crossings, including a 110m crossing of the Pacific Highway and adjacent wetlands as part of a package of under bores in the Newcastle area. Ground conditions presented hard packed sand through to saturated muds with a high water table.
UEA has been installing trenchless sections of steel enveloper pipe to encase DICL water main crossings on the new Rapid Transit Light Rail System under the Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach. Working for CLM Infrastructure, UEA used a Pilot Guided Boring Machine (GBM) to drill a laser guided pilot hole achieving on target accuracy of less than 10mm. The installation auger followed the pilot bore pushing out the 100mm pilot tube and replacing it with the 550mm steel enveloper pipe. This pilot tube microtunneling method can be used for trenchless installations up to 600mm diameter and up to 80 meters in length depending on ground conditions, and is ideal for critical on grade projects requiring a high level of accuracy.
