Scope of Works
UEA’s Civil Construction team was tasked with providing 117 lineal metres via thrust boring, at a depth between three to four metres. Works also required the ‘sliplining’ of the recently installed steel encasing pipe. Initial proposal of PP was changed to uPVC following technical enquiries.
All construction complied with Sydney Water’s “WSA 02-2002-Sewerage Code of Australia_V4.0 and “Deem-To-Comply” drawings, as well as with Sydney Water’s “Civil Technical Specification v7”.
- Proximity to existing services. UEA potholed and assigned a surveyor to re-check design levels in order to ascertain clearance.
- The design grade was considerably flat and required utmost care to ensure that the bore met all allowable tolerances.
- The area was of high environmental importance, with a nearby waterway and a small sports field. UEA managed stockpiles and ensured that impact was kept within the compound.
- Pipe material changed from PP to PVC as UEA investigated suitability for thrust boring application
