UNSW Network Construction Project Reaches Major Milestone

Posted 19 October 2012

UEA Electrical has just completed a major milestone alongside Garde Services as part of a high voltage customer installation for the Tyree Energy Technologies Building located at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

The Tyree Energy Technologies Building is a landmark 6-star energy efficient building. As the new home of energy research at UNSW the building will accommodate and showcase state-of-the-art and leading edge research into clean and sustainable energy. The Project is an initiative of the Australian Government being conducted as part of the Education Investment Fund.

The electrical network construction project undertaken by Garde Services and UEA Electrical included the construction of two 3km underground 11kV feeders and the commissioning of a high voltage customer substation in order to balance the load around the overloaded internal network. UEA undertook the electrical, testing and commissioning works to establish the supply point to the newly constructed building forming the vital link between the University network and NSW power authority network. Australasian Cable & Engineering Services (ACES) designed and manufactured the 11kV 400mm2 AL 3 Core cable in compliance with the NSW power authority’s requirements.

This work continues UEA’s growth in the high voltage customer market with other noteworthy projects including the Dexus Western Sydney Data Centre at Greystanes.
