UEA has been award a water main renewal contract in the Shoalhaven region of NSW. The works are spread over eleven sites from Nowra to Culburra Beach. Approximately 2.7 kilometres of water main will be installed, reconnecting 60 houses to the new main. The works are a mix of rural properties including dairy farms and suburban / residential areas.
The principal intends to replace various minor water mains throughout the region that are less than DN100 with appropriately sized mains. This package of work is scheduled to replace existing 40mm and 50mm water mains with 125mm PE which has an internal diameter of 100mm.
The package was designed to be an open trench contract but UEA proposed to use Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD). The use of HDD to install the new water mains reduces the impact that the works have on the local community and also limits disturbance and restoration requirements.
The scope of works for the project includes temporary water supply, supply of pipe and fittings, installation of pipes, all civil works, installations of fittings, testing and commissioning of the new main. UEA is able to offer a complete package by performing all works with internal HDD and civil crews.
UEA will utilise its DitchWitch AT3020 HDD rig to install the main. This rig is small enough to complete the street works but also has the ability to complete longer shots in mixed ground conditions.
By performing all aspects of the work, UEA is able to offer clients a streamlined project with one point of contact.
