UEA Engineering department utilities a point load tester to approximate the material’s ultimate compressive strength by applying point loads on lump samples.

The data acquired here is compared to cut rates from the pits where the samples are taken from, and the relationship is noted.

The correlation between these results is used to predict cut rates through material prior to processing.
