UEA have sponsored Goulburn based driver Ian Burrows # 27 in his attempts to contest the Parramatta City Raceway sprint car title for the past 3 years. Ian has been a long standing competitor in speedway, first with sliders then as a Formula 500 speedway driver with numerous local and state titles to his name - Sprint Cars were a natural progression for him and his desire to progress his racing career. His attempts to stamp his mark in the 07/08 season were marred with a bad crash in Nov 07; he is now looking forward to the 08/09 year and the competition that comes with it. Despite a number of A main finishes through the past 3 years its been a big learning curve coming from Formula 500, we started with a Craig Dollansky Maxim chassis and a Max Dumesny 372cc Maxwill engine, now Ian runs a Maxim chassis and a Craig Dollansky 410cc engine. The team are starting to work out the magic that's needed to run these cars on the various track conditions which change constantly. UEA also put hard charger Mark Blyton in the #27 car for a couple of races in 08, one during the World Of Outlaws in Jan where he drove well to a B main finish on night one, rescheduling of the rain marred event meant that he couldn't do all three nights. He also contested the Gold Cup held at Lismore Speedway on the 10th of May, a night that most of Australia's best come together for a one off event - Mark led the A main for 20 laps until the right rear failed and limped home for a credible fourth. The 08/09 season could be interesting with the possibility of running two cars with Ian and Mark contesting the Parramatta City Raceway Sprint Car title.
