Civil & Mining Plant & Equipment

UEA’s rapid success using terrain leveling technology can be attributed to the hands-on approach of the owners, who are all from plant and engineering backgrounds. Our goal is to achieve the best mechanical availability possible through an understanding of the operation and mechanics of the equipment. We work with the machine manufacturers to constantly adapt and re-engineer the equipment to ensure that we continually improve the mechanical capability of the machines so as to increase productivity.

Vermeer T1255 Commander III TL

The T1255 unit is ideal for surface mining, highway/rail duplication, over-burden removal, site preparation and soil remediation projects. UEA has also used the T1255 for underground mining in the development of roadways and extraction drives. Top down cutting produces larger product size with less fines, or more usable product. The patented drum tilt system allows the machine to control grade in both the lateral and longitudinal directions in a single pass. With a cutting width wider than the tractor allows a vertical wall to be cut. The machine is based on excavator undercarriage and is highly manoeuvrable and very sturdy.

Maintenance

With three mid life rebuilds already done on our Vermeer surface mining machines, equating to 60,000 hours, UEA has the experience needed to be able to foresee and resolve most issues and faults that can occur on a surface miner. This gives us the knowledge and confidence to be able to effectively cost and control our operations effectively.

We have our engineers working continuously on new technology to improve OEM designs as well as specialised components to meet our clients’ needs and pit conditions.

Wirtgen Surface Miner 4200 SM

The 4200SM Surface Miner has a mechanically driven cutting drum for the selective mining of coal and iron ore as well as for cutting soft to medium-hard rock of up to 80 MPa. Performs cutting, crushing and loading in a single working pass eliminating the need for drilling, blasting, loading and crushing.

GCS900 Grade Control System

The GCS900 Grade Control System is an earth moving grade control system manufactured by Trimble and represents the next-generation 3D grade control system.

The GCS900 Grade Control System is a cutting-edge earthmoving grade control system that puts design surfaces, grades and alignments inside the cab. The system uses GPS, GPS and laser, or construction total station technology to accurately position the blade or bucket in real time, significantly reducing material overages and dramatically improving productivity and profitability.

Using the different positioning technologies provides blade control to the following accuracies:

  • Trimble MS980/MS990 Smart GPS Antenna - blade control to 20-30 millimetres (0.1 foot)
  • Trimble SPS930 or SPS730 Universal Total Station - blade control to 2-5 millimetres (0.007 to 0.016 feet)
  • Trimble GPS with Laser Augmentation - blade control to 3-6 millimetres (0.01 to 0.02 feet)
